Cold December Days

Colder days, Channukah, Winter Solstice...It is December. The weather is getting much colder. Please remember to have your child wear a coat to school. We go out to recess EVERY DAY - unless it is raining. The children must wear coats at recess.

We are going to have a very busy 17 days of school 9until winter break). IF YOU PLAN ON LEAVING FOR BREAK EARLY AND YOUR CHILD WILL BE OUT OF SCHOOL BEFORE OUR BREAK BEGINS - PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Thank You.

Yes...It's Parent-Teacher Conference Week!!

We are time-crunched this week. There are only 4 in-school days for the students. (Wednesday is Parent-Teacher Conferences) and next week is a 3-day week - due to the Thanksgiving holiday break. So, we are very busy preparing for our Powwow, Thanksgiving show, chapter 6 math test, unit 7 spelling/vocab test, and study of Native American folktales. Here is the homework schedule:

Complete and self-correct math review pg. 131.
Study for the chapter 6 math test - test is tomorrow.

Here we go - more fantastic things to learn and do! We will continue to work on the moccasins in class, will learn about volcanoes, earthquakes, rivers, glaciers, and fossils, make fossil models, learn all the spelling/vocab. words for unit 6, review and learn about nouns, make feather or Mohawk headdresses, and complete math chapter 6. OH - and we will also work on our superhero stories in writers' workshop. Whew! What a week this will be!

Here we go - second quarter, daylight savings time is over, and many new projects to do. This week we will start making moccasins, will learn about the ever changing surface of the Earth, take a quiz on the skeletal system, take a language arts test, learn about nouns, start math chapter 6: collecting and organizing data, and continue to discuss current events from Time for Kids.

Update for the 5th grade math group...

We will not have the chapter 7 math test tomorrow. (Oct.28) We need more time to review the concepts covered in the chapter. We will take this test next week.

The Last Week of the First Quarter....

Yes, this is the last week of the first quarter of our school year. We are starting some BIG projects and finishing a math chapter. The chapter 4 math test will be on Thursday. There is no spelling/vocab. test this week. The science weather project assigned on Monday is due on Thursday. It will be a busy week - as usual.
