ICE CREAM!! HOORAY!!
We are in for an EXCITING week. We are getting ready to open our class business: Heaven in the Fourth Dimension. We have been working very hard to create our products: 2 styles of hand-painted aprons and 2 flavors of ice cream - sour apple ice (pareve) and crackle barrel (dairy). Our products will be available for purchase at the Lower School Achievement Fair (this Wednesday evening - 7:00). In completing this project the students have learned how to write a formal letter, calculate cost of materials, estimate profits, design products, resolve conflicts, develop an advertising campaign, and use the computer to create personalized business cards. The students also learned how to complete a basic job application and experienced a job interview. Please come and visit our shop!
Friday is FIELD TRIP DAY!!! We are going to the Graeter's Ice Cream Factory! We will leave the school around 9:00a.m. and return to school by lunchtime. We will have a guided tour of Graeter's followed by a small ice cream feast. Please remember to bring you field trip money by THURSDAY, MAY 7. ($3.00 for the bus, NO MORE THAN $5.00 for ice cream treats) We will be taking the Bexley Beat bus - which has just enough seats for our class. Parent chaperones will have to take their own cars. Welcome Back! We are taking the Achievement Tests.
I hope that you all have had a wonderful Pesach break. We are back "full-force" this week. We will be taking the Achievement Tests EVERY MORNING (9:00-11:30), TUESDAY-FRIDAY this week. It is VERY IMPORTANT that your child arrive to school ON TIME, that your child eats a healthy, filling breakfast EVERY MORNING, and gets a good night's sleep EVERY NIGHT. Doing so will help your child feel more relaxed, alert, and prepared for our marathon testing sessions. There will be NO HOMEWORK this week. Enjoy.

Count Down to Pesach Break...5..4..3..2..1..
We are counting the days until Pesach break - and are very aware of the enormous amount of things we need to accomplish before Friday's Model Seders. First of all, our class business - Heaven in the 4th Dimension - has to secure a "business loan" to provide the start-up costs for our business. The CEOs, the Vice Presidents, the Financial Directors, and the Research and Development director have been working very hard to create this business loan proposal. They will present it to Mrs. Sapp this week. Wish us luck!
The packaging and design team has created an AWESOME logo for our company and have designed some snazzy gift bags for our merchandise. The product development team for our ice cream division has created 4 DELICIOUS flavors (2 dariy - Cholov Yisroel, 2 pareve) and are working on the top secret recipes for each. The product development team for our apron division have created 2 beautiful designs - one for dairy, and one for pareve, and are experimenting with painting and printing techniques. The marketing and Advertising department have been hard at work! They have planned an AMAZING advertising campaign, complete with posters, fliers, poems, commercial jingles, and a power-point marketing presentation. I am so proud of our class!
In reading - we will finish the book The Whipping Boy. We will not have a spelling/vocabulary test this week. In math - we will review the basics of division. PLEASE review these at home. After Pesach break, we will tackle the challenging concept of long division. Knowing the basics will make this new concept much easier for all involved. In science - we will continue to learn about the circulatory system. We will learn a snappy little song that will teach us the process by which blood travels through the heart. Before you know it, you will be singing it , too. (sorry....)
We will also have a little talk about manners. Spring fever has hit our class hard. There have been temper tantrums, teasing, whining, arguing, contagious silliness, endless chatter, and general melt-downs. We will discuss ways to manage our emotions and stress, and learn how to peacefully, kindly, and politely resolve conflicts and differences.
Oh, it will be quite a week!
